Hospitality Project Designs
Over the years, I have had the opportunity to design mid-size hotels situated in vibrant urban settings within the bay area. In both cases, I worked from Schematic Design through to Design Development before the projects faced unforeseen delays. These projects were ultimately built according to my design and specifications, albeit under a different branding and construction team than originally intended. These experiences have significantly deepened my understanding of the operational challenges and economic woes often faced by hotels, as well as the creative possibilities afforded when developing new designs while adhering to a strict pre-set corporate image and rules.
Hotels
Hotel in Campbell, California.
This Hotel in Campbell, conveniently located close to the Pruneyard shopping area, was a re-development of a former office building and parking lot. The initial design and scope were constrained by a specific corporate image, the unique allowances of the site itself, and the high expectations set forth by the clients. It featured a two-wing structure, rising to seven stories, which included a restaurant, a pool and recreation area, a fitness center, various entertaining areas, service corridors, and a distinct gazebo designed for the main entrance. Although the project received local approval, it was ultimately placed on hold. Later, the client made the decision to sell the property to another hotel franchise, which successfully completed the same project under a different brand name. It has also been built and in used for some years now.
